01/23/2010: "Peddling Pieces of Truth"
Astrologers, prophets and politicians are all peddling pieces of the truth.
Here are three I picked up on the web this week.
1. "Life is about what you feel, not what you think. Passion is essential for a meaningful existence."
2. "This week you can (and will) run circles around others."
3. "Ignorance is not bliss. It is often the cause of unnecessary anxiety."
The thing is with pre-packaged wisdom, it always comes "caveat emptor".
So I decided to test these in my lab of lifetime experience, so that I could pass them on to you with confidence. They held up pretty well, but not without some adjustment. Here are more robust versions, upon which you may safely rely.
1. Passion is essential but not sufficient for a meaningful existence. Life is about what you think, what you feel, what you want and what you decide to do with all that.
2. Running at all is a stretch for me and when I do it's a bee line from here to there. But I realize I often take myself too seriously, so running around for the fun of it might be just the thing.
3. Knowing or not knowing are neutral states. Anxiety is usually the product of a vivid imagination.
The three morals are inherent in this post.
Yours with creativity and imagination,
Darlene
