05/16/2010: "Ordinary Days"
"A man can stand almost anything except a succession of ordinary days." Goethe
The sum total of my day: a long jacuzzi bath, fresh baked cinnamon buns for breakfast, a couple of hours of housework, a couple of hours of yard work, a trip to the city dump, some grocery shopping, three episodes of The Mighty Boosh on DVD, an Italian dinner, and a book.
It's just the sort of day that Goethe had in mind. The kind that's well and good on its own, but string a few together and they all start to run into each other with a sameness that has me re-thinking the invitation for a weekend in New York that I turned down due to budget. If I'm not careful I'll end the evening at Expedia.com and be running a deficit by the end of the month.
Three morals in this story:
1. A woman can stand almost anything except a succession of ordinary days.
2. Then she is tempted to do something foolish to spice things up.
3. Fortunately for her budget, she doesn't have to go to New York to do that.
Yours with creativity and imagination,
Darlene

Would love to plan it with you and whoever else.
In the mean time we should plan a bike ride and picnic
